A Study about Fertilization Rate Following Reinsemination in in Vitro Fertilization

Abstract
Aspirated oocytes were occasionally not fertilized even though sperm quality was included normal range. So we performed reinsemination in cases of none of the aspirated oocytes were fertilized fro Jan. 1991 to Dec. in department of Obstetrics and
Gynecology, Pusan National University Hospital. The fertilization rate and cleavage rate by reinsemination were 27.2%, 85.3%. The fertilization rate (27.2%) of reinsemination was very low than that of initial insemination (67.1%). But cleavage
rate
was
no difference with both. One pregnancy resulted from transfer of embryos arising solely from successful reinsemination. But it was aborted.
A concern associated with reinsemination is the possible risk of fertilizing aged oocytes. In conclusion, considering this matter, Reinsemination procedure was needed more studies.
